Rugby Rugby World Cup 2011 Review

It’s another big gaming release which sees the Rugby World Cup 2011 come alive in game animation

Story There is no career mode; you simply just get stuck into plain rugby. Which would be okay if this was some arcade game to be priced at around five pounds, however it’s out in shops for twenty pounds or more.

The game modes you can partake in, is The World Cup, a warm up tour which is basically like friendlies, a dismal place-kick shootout and an online multiplayer mode.

Presentation This game is very disappointing especially with licensing as most of the 20 teams have no official strips or real world players.

I’m thinking back to Rugby 2008 and the days of the Playstation 2, and it’s a struggle to see a lot of differences between that and this game.

Gameplay One of the only good points about Rugby World Cup 2011 is it’s very easy to play. Within one game I was fully ready to take on the World Cup challenge and was able to stomp to some impressive victories.

Unfortunately though you don’t really feel like you’re in charge of the players and sometimes they run and tackle no-one or lose general direction and go somewhere else.

The game is also way too easy to beat and you can just literally run through an opponent’s backline with one player. The multiplayer mode is fun but it leaves a lot to be desired when only two players are able to get involved.

Additions During scrums, throw ins and other such features it’s fastest fingers first as you and opponent scramble to get the ball, there’s only so much fun in pressing the A button umpteen amount of times until it gets boring.

Sum Up If you are looking to shed an hour of your time, then buy this game, but if you’re looking for something which can keep you entertained for more than that amount of time then don’t bother.

Once you’ve won the World Cup, you are left with nothing else to do other than practice to improve for the same tournament. There is a lack of tactical movements, the game is way too easy and the game misses out on crucial players.

Putting all that into my rating, I think I’ll give this game a score of 2/10 because this game is dribble, save your cash and wait for something else.
