Figures released in April 2011 showed one out of five young people were out of work. So it's no surprise that the BBC have announced the production of 'Up For Hire', a series trying to get young people into work.
The series will follow four 18-24 year olds as they progress from being a tea boy to making executive decisions and you can still get involved!
Speaking exclusively to TeenArea, a BBC Spokesman "We are looking for a broad mix of raw talent, people who are full of potential and enthusiasm but are finding it difficult to find work".
The programme hopes at least one of the four young people, will be offered a job by the end of production, which is advertising itself as 40 years service in just 1 month. 'Up For Hire' has already got a number of enthusiastic companies involved with the programme.
There's another twist in 'Up For Hire' as each evening they'll be a live studio debate, BBC's spokesman said "It is a really important debate and we want to incorporate the live jobs fair element of the show".
The spokesperson added, "It's also to offer another way for those who don't get a chance to be one of the main contributors, to take part by being in the studio audience as well as viewing at home".
'Up For Hire' is a big chance for anyone who has tried everything to get into employment but has so far been unsuccessful.
Applications are still open for 'Up For Hire' and the spokesperson added, "Applicants have to be willing to appear on television, and if you don't mind being filmed, then this programme could offer you a real opportunity to do something positive".
They continued, "We hope that the experience will be an invaluable one and that it may lead to an introduction to prospective employers in the near future".
BBC hope the programme could be shown late 2011 but they say it's too soon to exactly specify when the programme will air.
